Cystic Fibrosis Queensland

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a degenerative condition that affects the lungs and digestive system. It is a chronic, lifelong, progressive disease leading to a short life. Just to survive, people living with cystic fibrosis endure a daily regimen of medication and physiotherapy. There is no cure. More recent developments in treatment has meant that life expectancy has increased almost 38 years. However, as the disease progresses, patients face more intensive medication regimens, more rigorous daily therapies and more frequent hospitalisations. Both the disease and the treatment regimens affect patients’ quality of life.

Cystic Fibrosis Queensland (CFQ) provides services, advocacy and practical support for people living with CF and their families in Queensland, Northern NSW and the Northern Territory. We focus on improving the quality of life for all lives affected by cystic fibrosis. CFQ’s community care improves our members’ overall health and sense of well-being in a bid to reduce both the number of hospital visits undertaken per year and the length of stay of each visit.
