CFWA have recently developed a new exercise program, CF Fit which is available to the CF community Australia wide.  This is a series of resources to support adults with CF to maintain an active lifestyle by equipping them with the appropriate tools required, and by educating personal trainers about CF. CF Fit includes the following resources:

1. A Guide for People Living with CF
This booklet is designed to assist people with CF to exercise safely at home or within their local gym. It contains specific CF related exercise tips and information to help you on your journey, including motivational tips, types of exercise and their CF specific benefits, how to monitor your level of exertion, as well as health and nutrition considerations when exercising.
2. A Guide for Personal Trainers
This booklet is designed to provide information about CF and how it may affect an individual in an exercise or sporting environment. Topics covered include what CF is, common symptoms, exercise and CF and exercise considerations when training people with CF. CFWA are also able to do education sessions with staff at gyms upon request.
3. My Exercise Record
This booklet is designed for you to keep important health information and track your workouts. It includes upper and lower body strength and flexibility exercises as well as core strength exercises that all have specific CF health benefits. It has a section for your physiotherapist to write down an exercise program specifically developed for you, and list any exercise precautions you should take. There is an exercise log for you to document your workouts and a section to record your exercise goals.

Exercise support from CFWA’s Health Promotion and Recreation Officer is available if you need further support during exercise or with motivation.
CF Fit is supported by the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) CF team.

The resources are available in hard copy the CFT office.
